Sunflowers & Pom-Poms

She’s Got a Story: Julie

When a woman shows up with her own pom-poms to illustrate her point – you know she’s serious.

“I support you!” she cheers.

Julie uses her faith, her work as an emotions mentor, and her presence to connect with women. “I help women see they are resilient. We are sunflowers. We can bring positivity to people. We can bring sunshine and a smile to someone’s face. She represents stand tall and be proud,” she says.

When asked what word describes her, Julie quickly answered, “If I had to think of one word is empathetic. I feel you. I hear you. Which is so important to me.”

She sees how easily women can connect with each other and how powerful support and connection can be. She understands the struggle of “super moms” and “super grandmas” who do it all. “Because I identify with her. I was that raising my family, being a wife (married forty years), having my ministry, teaching them about our God and our Creator, helping them see that this is the best way of life to serve God, and handling all that. Handling the house budget. Handling the work schedule. Handling the ups and downs with raising your family, the getaways you want to do with your family, taking care of the kids. All of that running around that we do, and not taking time out for ourselves.”

Through her business Julie seeks to come alongside women. Helping them to not only identify health and emotional concerns, but also to have accountability and support in their own journeys. Her own wellness journey showed her the power of emotions, the need for toxin-free solutions, and self-care. While she admits self-care does look different for everyone, she points out that women (the superwomen especially) tend to put off caring for themselves. “There’s a way of not just waiting once a year, do it yourself. Make time. Schedule the time. Self-care doesn’t have to cost you anything, but it's gonna cost you so much if you don’t do it.”

Julie’s passionate about her business and ministry, Girasol (which means sunflower in Spanish), “I use essential oils to help women to have a breakthrough. Girasol is my favorite flower, but the symbolic meaning of the sunflower is when you see a sunflower, you see bright yellow that brings a smile to your face, and she follows the sun. Following the sun, to me, represents following our Creator. And when she gets heavy, she needs to take care of herself – a little sunlight and nurturing for her to regain her health.”

Julie’s passion and faith shine brightly when you talk to her. She is a sunflower. While she stands tall and proud, she is also out there cheering for other women and supporting them as the follow the sun, too.

Julie’s big smile and desire to connect make it easy to spend time with her. She strives for connection with God and the women around her. She quickly identified some super mom traits in me (no surprise to anyone)—offering support and empathy. Not only did she take the time to ask questions about me, but she also brought me a little gift. Honestly, even without the pom-poms, I know the women in Julie’s life know she supports them.
